Many girls growing up during the Women’s Movement thought a good deal about their future professional lives and not so much about their lives as future homemakers. Lynne Weinstein says, “What I did not realize as a young girl was that life’s paths are rarely so cut-and-dried. No matter what journey we take we spend an enormous amount of time and effort loading the dishwasher, sorting laundry, cooking, and doing other chores.”
Weinstein was always interested in still life subjects that represented real life situations. So she pointed her camera at the everyday compositions in front of her. “I have focused my camera on chores to find beauty in the dutiful moments. I examine how the light falls, how the lines move through the scenes, and how shapes interact.”
Lynne Weinstein is a nationally published photographer whose work has been exhibited throughout New England and New York. Her images have appeared in publications such as Oprah, Parenting, and The New York Times. Recently, her Botanical Portfolio was chosen by the Vermont Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts to be part of a traveling exhibition throughout state of Vermont. The exhibition features four women photographers selected to represent Vermont at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
The photographs were taken with a large format 4x5 camera on Polaroid type 55 film and printed traditionally on fiber paper. She lives in Putney, Vermont.
