What Matters about Photography-A Juried Exhibition

- Apr 2011

In April of 2011, the Vermont Center for Photography will present a juried exhibit, What Matters About Photography. Out of nearly 300 submissions, VCP has chosen twenty-nine photographers who each have different reasons for why they make photographs. However, one thing they all have in common is a passion for seeing things in their own way. Participants include established professionals, amateurs, and students from all over New England.  Exhibitor, Tim Ellis of Brattleboro, Vermont, sums up his thoughts on what photography means to him:  “To me, photography is about noticing. There is so much in the world that fills up the senses. Most of it just flows by. Little moments come and go. Making photographs is a way of saying I noticed that moment.”

What Matters About Photography will feature work by Elsa Voelcker, Susan Lirakis, Andrew Strattner, Paul Osborne & Catherine Davis, Corey Stein, Michael Stoudt, Andrew Hodgdon, Heidi Haner, Cheryl Willoughby, Liza Mindemann, Paula Sagerman, Donald David, Jerry Reed, Liz LaVorgna, Bernie Kubiak, Kathleen Carr, Suzanne Flynt, Judy Unger-Clark, Ellen Madden, Betsy Feick, John Nopper, Cynthia Hughes, Anita Licis-Ribak, Bill Arduser, Nancy Weber, Doug Frank, Brent Seabrook, Andrea Wallens Powell, and Tim Ellis.

An opening reception will be held during Gallery Walk on Friday, April 1, 5:30-8:30pm.  The exhibit will be on view through May 1.

Most exhibited works are for sale. Support the VCP by purchasing a one-of-a-kind photograph!  Contact the gallery manager at 802-251-6051 or at for more information.
