With Out Borders

The Constructed Realities of Image and Object students of photography from Greenfield Community and Marlboro Colleges

- Jun 2007

With Out Borders was inspired by two unique classes being offered through two topnotch local photography departments.  “Image and Object” was a MassArt class, offered through Greenfield Community College and was taught by Tom Young and Joan O’Beirne.  “Constructed Realities” was taught by Marlboro College professors John Willis and Tim Segar.  Both classes were designed to expand the students’ vision beyond traditional representation and to explore the intersection of photography and sculpture.  But why stop there when there is so much great work coming from both schools!  The various techniques students used in this show includes silver gelatin prints, archival inkjet, installation and mixed-media.

This exhibit represents our first foray into the work of local college students.  We were so excited by the diversity of work coming from only two schools that we plan to go region wide next year!
