Women to Watch: Four Vermont Photographers

The VCP exhibit showcases the varied and even conflicting personal viewpoints of the five women artists.

Bethany Bond. of Underhill,Vermont, ponders the cyclical nature of life with photo-collage.  Bond says in her artist statement, “Memories and moments intertwine with the ebb and flow of life around me, existing as layered glimpses of time.”

Luciana Frigerio, of Norwich, Vermont, brings a series called, “Nature Morte”.  Her photographs are painterly still-lifes, often with surreal juxtapositions of ordinary objects, such as bed springs, clock parts, fruits and vegetables, as well as dead animals brought home by her cat.

Collaborative artists Tarrah Krajnak of Burlington, Vermont, and Wilka Roig of ithaca, New York, look closely at contemporary trends of female representation.  Krajnak and Roig reproduce the viewpoints of media culture with a subtle twist in an effort to expose the rhetoric underlying them.

Lynne Jaeger Weinstein of Putney, Vermont, is a Vermont Center for Photography member.  Weinstein’s personal and beautiful photographs of fruits, vegetables, and flowers have been exhibited at VCP many times.  She says in her artist statement that she “...is drawn to their intricacies, their grace, and their beauty.”

The “Women to Watch” exhibit continues through Sunday, March 29.
