The Long View, Panoramic Photographs from Exhibiting Members
The panoramic format, captured either in camera, through the use of image editing software or as the product of sequential collage creates a viewing vista from which we can widen our imaginations. It selects a slice, either vertical or horizontal, that focuses our attention on the whole, not arbitrarily cropped version of sight.
This show also celebrates the beginning of our tenth year as a regional photographic gallery. The Vermont Center for Photography is raffling a 7 by 17 inch panoramic camera donated to VCP by Richard Ritter. There will be work in the show taken by his ultra large format panoramic camera. Exhibiting member photographers exhibiting include: Gene Butera, Bob Cantius, Kate Cleghorn, Jean Davis, Barry Dial, Jonathan Flaccus, Bob George, Peter Haas, Paul Miller, and Richard Ritter.
An opening reception will be held at the Gallery, 49 Flat Street (next to the parking garage) during Brattleboro’s Gallery Walk on Friday, March 7 from 5:30 to 8:30pm: The public is invited and refreshments will be available. The Vermont Center for Photography, a non-profit gallery featuring fine art photography, was founded in 1997. The gallery represents photographers from Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York, promoting a regional community of photographers.
Show ends on Sunday March 30.
